Description

Kintera- (DWB/CRGL) is a newly merged consulting firm specializing in environmental, engineering, forestry and GIS services and solutions. With a close-knit team, a diverse client base, and a strong reputation for quality and service, the company operates offices throughout all of British Columbia.

We are seeking a skilled and collaborative GIS Manager to lead our GIS/SaaS development team and help shape the next generation of our web‑mapping applications. This position is based out of our North Vancouver, BC office.

In this position, you will guide a talented group of GIS Developers, support the delivery of high‑quality mapping solutions, and provide the leadership needed to maintain and evolve our GIS platform. This is an opportunity to have real influence in a small but expanding team, where your leadership, technical insight, and client‑focused approach will directly impact the tools and systems our clients rely on.

Duties

The immediate responsibilities of an GIS Manager will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of GIS developers, fostering growth, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Overseeing project delivery, including budgets, schedules, priorities, resource planning, and quality assurance.
  • Engaging directly with clients to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and understand business workflows.
  • Translating client needs into actionable technical direction, including data models, and designs.
  • Providing clear, accessible communication to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Guiding the creation, configuration, and testing of ArcGIS Online maps, apps, and related workflows.
  • Supporting the team in resolving GIS workflow and web mapping issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
  • Contributing to strategic planning, including process improvements, and long‑term product evolution.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience leading GIS or technical staff and projects, including responsibility for budgets and timelines.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online and Esri‑based web mapping environments.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS) is an asset.
  • Exposure to scripting or programming environments (Python, SQL, JavaScript, Arcade) is an asset.
  • Strong communication and client‑engagement skills; able to translate concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of spatial data standards, cartographic principles, and web mapping best practices.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide technical work, including solution design, data modelling, and workflow planning.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Education

  • Formal education in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.
