DWB/CRGL is a newly merged consulting firm specializing in environmental, engineering, forestry and GIS services and solutions. With a close-knit team, a diverse client base, and a strong reputation for quality and service, the company operates offices throughout all of British Columbia.

We are seeking applications for Environmental Monitors to support a variety of environmental programs throughout British Columbia, based primarily out of our Penticton and Prince George offices, although other office locations may be considered. The ideal Candidate will assist with fish and environmental monitoring activities, data collection, reporting, and field logistics, while working closely with senior technical staff to support regulatory compliance and environmental protection objectives.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $28–$44 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Duties

The immediate responsibilities of the Environmental Monitor will include:

  • Working with contractors and clients to assess compliance and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Providing Erosion and sediment control (ESC) and environmental advice to contractors and clients.
  • Understanding environmental regulatory requirements and processes in BC.
  • Performing fish and wildlife salvages, water quality sampling, bird/nest sweeps, and vegetation surveys.
  • Conducting nest/den/habitat feature monitoring using trail cameras and visual observation.
  • Maintaining clear and accurate records of daily and weekly monitoring activities.
  • Working closely with senior biologists and project managers to integrate wildlife and fisheries data into comprehensive environmental plans.
  • Building positive relationships with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhering to safety protocols while working on industrial sites, in remote and rugged terrain, and in variable weather conditions.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Diploma or degree in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Registered Biology Technician (RBTech) or Biologist-in-Training (BIT), or be a similar BC-regulated environmental technician or professional is preferred but not required (RPBio, PAg, TAg, AAg, FIT).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an Environmental Monitor or Environmental Inspector is required, or relevant field experience as an environmental technician.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with designation as a CPESC or CISEC, or those that have taken the BC-CESCL course or similar.
  • Certification in electrofishing, swiftwater rescue, or other relevant training is an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors, on extended shifts, and travel to remote locations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s driver’s license required.
