We are seeking applications for full-time Junior Biologists & Technicians to join our dynamic team and support environmental projects in southern British Columbia. This position is based out of our Prince George and Terrace office. The ideal candidate will bring experience in wildlife and aquatic habitat assessments, species at risk, field data collection, environmental monitoring, and contributing to impactful environmental outcomes. The role is primarily field-based with some office work, and the applicant should enjoy working collaboratively in a demanding, fast-paced environment that provides rewarding work opportunities.
Duties
The Immediate responsibilities of a Junior Biologists & Technicians will include:
- Conducting wildlife and aquatic habitat assessments, including species surveys (including for species at risk), habitat evaluations, and monitoring.
- Performing fish and wildlife salvages, water quality sampling, nest sweeps, and vegetation surveys.
- Monitoring construction sites and industrial activities to ensure environmental compliance.
- Implementing environmental management plans, spill response, and revegetation initiatives.
- Installing, monitoring, and maintaining erosion and sediment control devices and stream diversions.
- Developing and applying mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts.
- Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and environmental assessments.
- Working closely with senior biologists and project managers to integrate wildlife and fisheries data into comprehensive environmental plans.
- Building positive relationships with clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Diploma or degree in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or currently working towards completion in a related field.
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years related work experience.
- Familiarity with fish and wildlife survey techniques, environmental impact assessments, and mitigation planning.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and GIS/mapping tools.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments and remote locations.
- Certification in electrofishing, Swiftwater rescue, or other relevant training is an asset.
- Basic understanding of applicable environmental legislation around protection of fish, wildlife, birds.
