We are seeking a motivated and dependable Water Resources Engineer -in- Training who is eager to grow their technical skills while supporting the Water Resources team and working under the supervision of Professional Engineers and Senior Hydrotechnical Specialists. This position involves a mix of office and field-based work, with opportunities to contribute to a broad portfolio of water resources projects across British Columbia and will be based out of our Prince George office.
Duties
The immediate responsibilities of a Water Resources Engineer -in- Training will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with hydrologic, hydrometric and hydraulic site assessments and surveys, watershed studies, water resource permitting applications.
- Assisting with calculation, design, and drawing production
- Preparing field summaries, tools, technical memorandums, and contributing to reports such as Environmental Assessments, Technical Data Reports, and Permitting Applications.
- Providing construction support for water resources projects, including coordination and review of survey layout to ensure alignment with design plans and specification.
- Conducting on-site quality control inspections to verify compliance with project requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, with focus/completed course work in hydrology and hydraulics.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in hydrotechnical engineering, civil construction, and water resources sectors is an asset; experience may include hydrologic or hydraulic modelling, site inspections, construction support, or design and review of drainage, culverts, levees, or other water related infrastructure.
- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), or eligibility for registration.
- Demonstrated experience and comfort working on and around water, including in field conditions such as rivers, streams, reservoirs, construction sites, and other aquatic or riparian environments.
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence in British Columbia, with a safe driving record and ability to travel to project sites.
